The Wildcats reach 70 consecutive winning seasons, a record unmatched across all divisions of college football.
MCMINNVILLE, Ore., Oct. 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Linfield University’s football program has made history again. With a 41-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran University on Saturday, the Wildcats secured their 70th consecutive winning season, extending the longest streak of winning seasons in college football history across all divisions.
The milestone extends a run that began in 1956. Since then, Linfield has compiled a 566-126-10 record, winning 81% of its games. The Wildcats have maintained that success across seven decades of college football, establishing a record of sustained winning unmatched at any level of the sport.

A record built over seven decades
Known at Linfield as The Streak, the run reached 69 consecutive winning seasons in 2025. With Saturday’s victory, the Wildcats have extended it to 70.
The scale of the achievement is striking. The second-longest streak of consecutive winning seasons in college football history belongs to the University of Mount Union in Ohio, at 47 seasons — 23 fewer than Linfield’s current mark.
Linfield’s success extends beyond its overall record. During The Streak, the Wildcats have posted a 298-34-5 record in Northwest Conference play, winning nearly 90% of their conference games.
Preserving The Streak’s history
Based in McMinnville, Oregon, Linfield competes at the NCAA Division III level. The football program has won multiple national championships and conference titles during its history.
In 2021, Linfield’s Archives and Special Collections created an oral history project about The Streak, featuring videos, photographs and interviews with members of the 1956 football team. The collection documents the people and history behind one of college football’s most enduring records.
