Illinois Democrats Gather for Election Night Party as ULP Strike Begins

CHICAGO, Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Teamsters Local 727 is calling on Governor JB Pritzker, Attorney General Kwame Raoul, and other Illinois Democrats to honor any potential Teamsters picket line at Navy Pier during an ongoing unfair labor practice (ULP) strike involving parking operators across the Chicago area.

Local 727 members have staffed parking facilities serving Navy Pier and other locations throughout Chicago for decades. With Illinois Democrats holding their election night gathering at Navy Pier, the Teamsters are calling on them to stand with the Teamsters should the strike expand to the venue.

“Working people deserve more than just words,” said John T. Coli Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of Local 727. “Tonight is an opportunity for elected leaders to stand with workers who are fighting for their future. Governor Pritzker, Attorney General Raoul, and every Democrat attending events at Navy Pier should respect any picket line and refuse to cross it.”

Earlier today, nearly 1,200 Teamsters Local 727 members launched a ULP strike against parking operators across Chicagoland over bad-faith bargaining and numerous alleged violations of federal labor law. Elected officials who claim to support workers should honor any Teamsters picket line and stand with employees challenging unlawful employer conduct.

“Our members aren’t asking for special treatment,” Coli said. “They’re asking for their elected officials to stand with them when it matters. If you support union labor, if you support workers’ rights, then respecting a Teamsters picket line should be an easy decision.”
